Google Play Games is a multi-platform online gaming service built operated by Google for the Android and Windows operating systems. Unveiled at the Google I/O 2013 Developer Conference, the mobile app was launched for Android on July 24, 2013.[1] In 2021, Google announced that the service would be made available on Windows, introducing a new logo at the same time.[2]
Google Play Games features gamer profiles, cloud saves, social and public leaderboards, achievement, and real-time multiplayer capabilities.[Citation needed] It also has a screen-recording feature, custom gamer IDs, built-in games, and an arcade for game discovery.[Citation needed]

The Google Play Games service was introduced at the Google I/O 2013 Developer Conference,[3] and the standalone Google Play Games mobile app was launched on July 24, 2013.[1] Andrew Webster of The Verge compared the service to Game Center, a similar gaming network for users of Apple Inc.'s own iOS operating system.[3]
